Reflection on Accomplishments and Sewing
Summers are made to slow down, reflect and prepare.
Reflecting about my first serious steps as an artist, I am adapting, remodeling, learning, de-learning and of course keep going.
Success is an attitude, I keep hearing. Work and work, sit and draw, repeat and repeat, every single day. Make your life around it, figure it out, eliminate, prioritize, just do it.
To prepare to this frame of mind I sat down and decided to make something for myself. Sewing is meditative, a mental process as well as a technical one, a complex equation to resolve. It is slow, delicate, unforgivable, and it worked for me.
A pair of pants is the result, a piece that I, at the end, can wear as a proof. Something that I built on my own, struggled with, made me depressed and joyful, something that I simply achieved.
Slowing down is the best thing when facing overwhelming questions, it helped me get into a space where I am not scared anymore. I am ready, plus have a bran new pair of pants.
